3/5 Sunday School

Nursery Care opens at 8:30am. Antonia and Amalia are ready to play with your little one!

K-5 Sunday School starts at 9am. This week, we will study the Books of History. After practicing our skills in finding a bible verse, the children will have the opportunity to make finger puppets to accompany the story of Esther, complete a worksheet, and take characters on a journey to the promised land in the sand station. Following the stations, they'll hear the second part of the story of Esther, from the Book of Esther. It is an engaging, rags to riches, fairy-tale-like story! Karen Jaehnig, and Jadyn and Josie Gilbert  will guide the children in their learning.

March Compassion Offering: One Great Hour of Sharing

One Great Hour of Sharing®, an ecumenical offering sponsored in Lent by the United Church of Christ, provides humanitarian and disaster relief in the United States and around the world. When a disaster strikes or people are displaced or made refugees by violence or extreme poverty, you are part of the immediate response and the work for long- term recovery. Because the UCC works in partnership to churches and organizations through Global Ministries and worldwide response and recovery networks, your contributions to One Great Hour of Sharing put you in the right place at the right time for the relief, accompaniment and recovery of the most vulnerable. You meet immediate needs and you address the underlying causes that create those needs in the first place.

You can make a donation by check, on the memo line, please write “compassion” and mail to ORUCC, 1501 Gilbert Road, Madison, WI 53711, or donate online from our website. The link is https://orucc.org/contribute/support/ For more information see ucc.orghttps://www.ucc.org/giving/ways-to-give/our-churchs-wider-mission/one-great-hour-of-sharing/

ORUCC – white christian nationalism: a Lenten Study

From Racial Justice MIssion Team
Learn about white christian nationalism
White christian nationalists are claiming to speak for Christians when they attack racial diversity, LGBTQ rights, abortion, and election results. ORUCC member Rev. Dr. David Anderman will lead an eight-week study group on Tuesday mornings 10:30am-12pm from February 28-April 25 and Thursday evenings March 2- April 27 from 7:00-8:30pm. The study group will be hybrid (in person and virtual on Zoom) in the Alfred Swan seminar room at ORUCC. The Racial Justice Mission Team has been discussing this issue for over a year and we think it is time to bring it to the congregation. We asked David to write a statement about this issue for the ORUCC website.
