After worship on January 8th in Friendship Hall, all are invited to a reception of King’s Cakes and Epiphany Treats made and served by John Leonard. Hot and cold beverages also! Friday Breakfast Group – January 6

The next Friday Breakfast is set for January 6 at 8:30 am at Denny’s, 433 S. Gammon Road. All are welcome! The group meets on the first Friday of the month and includes both men and women. “Don’t worry….. Be happy!”  If you have any Scandinavian history in your genealogy we now understand why you smile so often. Professor of Scandinavian Studies at the UW, Claus Andersen will present a program on the Scandinavian Recipe for Happiness.  Scandinavians consistently rank among the happiest people in the world. This talk will explore why that is. And what can we learn from the Scandinavian’s happiness?

Join us for this program and a fine buffet luncheon for only $8.  We gather at 11:30, dine at 11:45, the program begins at 12:30.

Showing of Fiber Art

YOU ARE INVITED by Chris Thomas to see the current showing of fiber art in the Playhouse Gallery (lower level) of the Overture Center, on display through February 26. The show’s theme is ROOTS, OUR FOUNDATION. Members of the Madison Contemporary Fiber Artists will hold an Open House and Gallery Talk on Friday, Jan 20 at 5:30 pm. 

YOU CAN BE A FIBER ARTIST on Saturday January 14 from 10am-1pm when you take part in the Community Workshop, open to all ages (children accompanied by an adult.) Try out some creative techniques with the artists. Your work will then be hung in the gallery across from the show and remain there through February 26.

Madison Mennonite Church seeks an Administrative Assistant. MMC’s Administrative Assistant collaborates with the Pastor and lay leaders to equip the MMC community in its mission and vision. The Administrative Assistant provides organizational support to the congregation through communication and information sharing, record keeping, and financial bookkeeping. This is a part-time position (12 hrs/wk) and is largely remote, with occasional in-person tasks and meetings. Members of ORUCC are invited to apply for 2023-2024 college scholarships of $1,000 to $2,000 from the Frank E. Page Scholarship Fund. Applicants should be planning to begin or continue education at any accredited 2- or 4-year college or university, and should have a record of academic achievement, service to church and community, and demonstrated financial need.
