Change in Masking
The ORUCC Covid Response Team met on Sunday, February 19. We had a thoughtful and lively discussion that also briefly included a member of an area UCC church for a perspective from another congregation.
In response to the sentiments raised at the recent annual meeting, and taking into account current Dane County COVID-19 risk levels as determined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) we are recommending the following to begin immediately:
- While Dane County risk is “Low”, as it is presently, masking will now be optional in the Crossroads and Friendship Hall during worship and throughout the rest of the church (including the education wing and basement) for other activities.
- To continue to provide the broadest and safest welcoming environment, the mask mandate continues for Sunday worship in Worship Hall/Sanctuary.
* For worship participants (speakers, choir singers), masks can be removed during speaking or singing but must otherwise be worn.
* Note that the Crossroads and Friendship Hall remain mask–optional during worship services.
* As per the CDC, staying home if feeling ill, washing hands frequently, and being up-to-date on vaccinations are recommended
The Covid team will reconvene to consider additional modifications in 3 months. For those who are interested, Dane County Public Health shares the CDC assessment at this link: https://www.publichealthmdc.com/coronavirus
