A Celebration of the Life of Bonnie Orr

Madison-Bonnie Orr, age 92, passed away on Monday, February 27, 2023. She was born on September 10, 1930 in Hillsboro, WI to the late Charles and Nell Wong. Bonnie met the love of her life, Donald Orr while walking with her friend on State Street in 1946. On August 9, 1947, they were married at the Presbyterian Church on State Street.
Bonnie was very close with her 3 sisters; in the 60’s and 70’s they would all go camping with their husbands and children. Wonderful memories were created for everyone. Besides traveling with family, she enjoyed bowling, golfing, playing cards and going to casinos to play the nickel slots. Bonnie was an avid collector of dolls and Beanie Babies; also an excellent seamstress and knitter.
Not only did Bonnie and Don raise their children, they opened their home to foster children that needed extra help in school due to eye and/or hearing impairment. Bonnie was a vibrant, loving, caring and giving woman; everyone loved her and she loved everyone. Bonnie is survived by her devoted husband, Don; children, Dennis (Sue), Kathy Thompson, David (Ann), and Bryan (Tracey); grandchildren Jamie, Chris, Jacy, Franz, Meghan, Tyler, and Ryan; daughter-in-law Senna; sister-in-law Joann Orr and seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is further survived by other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her son Rodney; son-in-law Bob and sisters, Thelma, Verna, Donna and one great grandchild.
The family extends a special thanks to niece Peggy Parish for her devoted care of Bonnie and Don for many years. A visitation for Bonnie will be held on Saturday, April 15 at ORCHARD RIDGE UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST, 1501 Gilbert Rd at 10:30 am with a memorial service to follow at 11 am.
