Our summer J&J programming will focus on the Phoenix Affirmations, which the pastors will be preaching about this summer. The reading(s) will be kept light most weeks.
This Sunday we will discuss Phoenix Affirmation #2: “Christian love of God includes listening for God’s Word which comes through daily prayer and meditation, through studying the ancient testimonies which we call Scripture, and through attending to God’s present activity in the world.” We will consider our views of scripture and prayer. Our starting point will be one page from the discussion guide. Optionally, you may wish to read Chapter 2 of Eric Elnes The Phoenix Affirmations, which is available as an inexpensive paperback or ebook, but you will be able to participate fully in the discussion without this reading.
