“Here’s a story of grace and abundance. Years ago I was discouraged, lonely and stressed. I needed a get-away and went to the all-church retreat, unsure it was the right place for me. Then God appeared, in the guise of a young boy, maybe 5 years old, He was assigned to help serve communion in our worship circle. Oddly, at first he and the other children had skipped me as they passed the bread. This little boy, with guidance from a loving adult, noticed, and scampered back to my place. He ripped off a huge handful of delicious home-made bread for me. Then he noticed there was only one other big chunk left in the basket and he gave me that too. This brought tears to my eyes – and had me chewing bread for a long time! In the spirit of that shared abundance and grace, I have sent in my pledge card for the ORUCC stewardship campaign. I hope you do too.”
