We have been blessed with the ministry of Tammy Martens for 15 years. This Sunday, as well as the first weekend in August, we will bless and celebrate Tammy Martens as she retires from parish ministry. You are invited to make cards for Tammy on Sunday with craft stations! This is the closing of her last church school year. Her last Sunday with us is August 7th with a final celebration on Saturday August 6th at 5pm.
On Sunday in worship, we will honor the teachers, the graduating seniors, and of course our beloved Tammy Martens.

All are welcome to outdoor Yoga before church
every Sunday in June
beginning at 8:45 and lasting for 50 minutes
Teacher: Leslie Linser
The class will take place on “The Patio,” the concrete area outside the worship hall, or indoors incase of inclement weather. This is an embodied and contemplative way to enter into worship on our day of Sabbath. Leslie Linser, a member of ORUCC and certified yoga instructor, will teach a yoga class grounded in spirituality with breath and prayer and meditation.
From Leslie: “The style of yoga being offered is best described as a gentle, slow flow. And while this will be slow and gentle it will require the ability to get on and off a mat (the floor). If one is able to get on and off the mat then most poses can be modified to fit your abilities. It is important that you know your own abilities and limitations and consult your physician if you are unsure if this is right for you. Whether you are a beginner or experienced in yoga practice, this class is intended to support you in engaging in gentle movements and in entering into a space of quiet and meditation that all can experience. And if you are an experienced practitioner there will be space and opportunities for more challenging poses.

Please read ahead of time and come prepared to discuss an extract from a sociology article that talks about mixed-race faith-based progressive organizations in which people from different backgrounds work together for social justice. It talks about how two different kinds of emotion-laden personal narratives are used to help people connect across difference: what the author calls “lived injustice” stories by those who have themselves suffered from injustice and “failed covenant” stories by relatively privileged people who talk about their moral awakening to injustice. What kinds of personal stories do we tell about our faith and social justice? Are these the only two kinds of stories or are there others? What have been people’s experiences working to create solidarity across difference in mixed-race or other “mixed” groups?

June Compassion Offering
Ukraine Refugee Relief
In June, the ORUCC Christian Witness and Service Ministry is focusing on refugee relief in and around Ukraine. We are partnering with the UCC-Wisconsin Conference, and its partner, Church World Service and their Ukraine Crisis Response Fund.

The Ukraine Crisis Response Fund is addressing the unique needs of Ukrainians displaced by Russia’s invasion. In meeting the basic needs of these refugees, the Fund is providing shelter and distributing food, hygiene items and school supplies.

The situation in Ukraine and neighboring countries is unstable and continues to change. Through the Crisis Response Fund, Ukrainians who have been forced to flee from their homes receive warm welcomes to help stabilize their situations.

Uniting in prayer, action, and giving, we stand as people of faith in love and compassion with the people of Ukraine.

You can make a donation by check, on the memo line, please write “compassion” and mail to ORUCC, 1501 Gilbert Road, Madison, WI 53711, or donate online at orucc.org. Click the brown button “Contribute” in the upper right of the home page.
